God gave me the gift of.....

God has given me a lot of gifts!!

My Experience about today!

Trip to Cathedral
On Friday the 1st of July St. Pius X School went on a trip to the St Patrick’s Cathedral. We traveled there by bus. We went to the Cathedral because it was the year mercy and we went on a pilgrimage journey which is a journey of Faith and Mercy..

Once we arrived  we waited outside the Cathedral then we walked into the door of mercy which the bishop had blessed.. We walked inside and we touched the holy water and blessed ourselves, and genuflected then went to sit down..

After that Fr Larry started singing and coming up to the Altar which was the main place where all priests stays. Later on the mass kept on going until after communion. Later on Mrs Tui told us to sing a song while the Parish members were going up for Communion, we had to sing bread broken, wine shared.

Later on we all had to go to the altar so we can take a school photos. After that Fr Larry gave us a little tour around the church, the first thing he told us were the Stained Glass Windows. On the Stained Windows there was a picture of Jesus and Mary on the day of Assumption.

Meanwhile Mrs Tui told us that we can go for morning tea which will be held in the Parish Hall. After morning we had to come back to school so we can go back to school. We had the most exciting day.

School Trip To Marae!!

On such a beautiful day our school which is St Pius x School went on a visit to Ruapotaka Marae which was behind the Te Oro building. Once I got to school everyone was ready with their neat/tidy uniform,
Appropriate footwear to wear for a walk.. Everyone was ready to take a walk to the Marae which is located in Line Road/Glen Innes.

Once everyone was ready, everyone stood up and started walking down the driveway to walk to the Marae. While we were walking I was talking to my soul friend which was Langilangi, he was a person who was also shy to go to the Marae.

Once we got there everyone gathered together at the gate so Analei and a member of the Marae can start us off with the Powhiri. Once that was finished we had to take off our shoes because shoes were not acceptable for the Marae ( New rule for me ). When
I stepped inside the WhareNui we had to find our seats so I sat at the back of the boys that were in the front ( Warriors ).

After that the boys of the Marae said a speech to all of us in Maori because only mens can say speech not women's. Later on the warriors at the front had to go up and do the Hongi with the members of the Marae. Meanwhile we had to go and have our morning tea. I was so hungry I couldn’t breathe properly.

After morning tea we all gathered together in the hall because we had to some activities. After morning tea the bus came and picked us up so we can go to tech. We had the most exciting day.

Powhiri

Statement of a Powhiri
Powhiri is a welcoming ceremony that is held on a Marae. A Marae is not the only place where a powhiri is happening, it can happen when you host something or when you welcome someone into your land.

What it looks like? The visitors will gather together outside the Marae. The Powhiri may be issued by young woman from the tangata whenua. While doing the Powhiri there is a Karanga happening. Once we enter the marae the boys will stand at the back and the ladies will stand in the front.

What it sounds like? It sounds really quiet if you stand at the back but if you stand at the front it is a bit loud.

What I felt about the Powhiri? I felt really scared when I entered because the Maori people were really scary with their tattoos.

Mother's Day's

Mothers are wonderful people. They have lots of important jobs to do. Sometimes they get very tired because of all the cooking and the cleaning as well as looking after the kids.

My wonderful Mother’s name is Sepeta Kupu, (I call her Peta) She likes to cook food for us to eat. She is responsible for two kids,  Pate and me (Pio). Peta is the person who taught me how to make  Tongan food which is Lu Sipi. My Mum is kind enough to drive us to school. Peta is the person who taught me ( Pio ) and Pate to read a book when we were young. I am the person who helps my Mum do the washing.
I am honoured to be her Son because she is the one who cheers me up in every rugby game. My Mother was the person who taught me how to act like a real boy.

Last but not least I love my Mother no matter what. I will always be there to help her when she’s old, I will look after her.
